Looking for a SQL Server DBA (Database Administrator) to manage and maintain SQL Server database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. Also handle tasks like installation, configuration, monitoring, backup, and recovery, while also addressing performance tuning, security, and user access. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

• Database Management: Installing, configuring, and upgrading SQL Server database systems.
• Performance Optimization: Tuning database performance, optimizing queries, and managing indexes.
• Security: Managing user access, permissions, and implementing security policies.
• Backup and Recovery: Implementing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies for data protection.
• Monitoring: Monitoring database health, performance, and availability.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation for database configurations and procedures.
• Collaboration: Working with developers and other IT professionals to support database needs. 

 

Specific Tasks:

• Database Design and Implementation: Assisting in the design and implementation of new databases, including schema design, and creating database objects like tables, views, and stored procedures. 
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implementing solutions like Always On Availability Groups or clustering for high availability and disaster recovery. 
• Capacity Planning: Monitoring database growth trends and planning for future capacity needs. 
• Automation: Developing and maintaining scripts for automating routine database tasks. 
• Patch Management: Applying SQL Server patches and updates to keep the system secure and up-to-date. 
• Security Auditing and Compliance: Ensuring the database environment adheres to security policies and regulations. 
• Reporting: Generating reports and visualizations related to database performance and usage. 

 

In essence, this position acts as a gatekeeper for the organization's data, ensuring its integrity, accessibility, and security within the SQL Server environment.

Location: Lansing, MI (Locals Only F2F Interview)

Skills:

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform development; including but not limited to Microsoft Dynamics and Power Portal development (4-8 years)
• Experience with Object Oriented Languages, XML/SOAP, JSON, REST API and Structured Query Language (4-8 years)
• Knowledge of application and database development and access methods (4-8 years)
• Knowledge of browser based (web) and object-oriented application design techniques and tools (3-5 years)
• Ability to recognize, gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; draw conclusions; investigate and define problems; and devise solutions and alternatives for automated information technology systems (3-5 years)
• Ability to prepare detailed written instructions and documentation (3-5 years)
