Job Outline
- Client is developing a web browser plugin with two objectives. The first objective is to create a demo-app that showcases the functionality of this web browser plugin. The second objective is to develop a set of validation tests that exercise the behavior of this plugin in a more automated manner. The plugin that is being developed has an API that is very similar to the HTML5 MediaElement API.
- The demo-app must be written in HTML5/CSS/Javascript. the developer will be expected to improve and polish what has been started. Otherwise, the developer is expected to start development of the app. The demo-app runs locally on a client system, and is intended to be seen by customers/consumers.
The validation tests will also be written in HTML5/CSS/Javascript, but the users of these tests are validation engineers. The emphasis will be on using Javascript to automate testing of the plugin, wherever possible. Define the scope and intent of these validation tests (i.e. somebody else will create and own the test plan) will be provided, but the developer will be expected to develop the Javascript-based tests
Must Have :
· The candidate must have some experience developing HTML5/CSS/Javascript consumer-targeted GUIs. Candidate must understand proper layout/design/color-use principles. Candidate must be comfortable with using photo editing or digital art tools to create simple art assets intended for the GUI. For example, the candidate will be expected to create images to represent play/stop/pause buttons.
· The candidate must have strong Javascript skills and be familiar with invoking web browser plugins from an HTML5/JS environment.
Skills : - Expertise with creating highly-polished art assets is highly desirable, for increasing the polish of our app. (eg. 3D-style buttons with shading, original repeating backgrounds, transparency tricks, etc.)
- Familiarity with the HTML5 MediaElement and MediaController APIs, associated with the video tag.
- Familiarity with automating client-side validation of HTML5 apps.
- Familiarity with validation processes and automation frameworks.
- Experience : 5+
