Role
• Understand requirements based on the production incident, and make sure the other team members understand it.
• Perform impact analysis to translate business requirements to technical specifications.
• Identify root causes, draft solutions and create a testing plan. Work closely with business/vendor partners and the Level 2 IT Support team on development, solution implementation, testing strategy, and release plans.
• Ensure that the definition of ready/acceptance criteria is well defined in the requirement document.
• Periodically update stakeholders on the progress of the change and engage them throughout the Software development lifecycle.
• Conduct daily scrum calls to provide technical guidance to the team and log any problems that come up during the meeting.
• Design solutions, develop codes, and perform unit tests before deploying into the QA.
• Assist QA with the testing approach for any special circumstances and ensure test cases cover all scenarios of the change.
• Work with business and other stakeholders (IT development and operations).
• Coordinate with offshore team members and monitor their deliverables.
• Help form the defect prevention and analysis plan. Come up with techniques to minimize the number of defects using known historical issues.
• Prepare a Runbook and ensure all stakeholders are aware of the checkout plan after PROD deployment. Manage deployment schedules, events, logistics and life cycle tasks. • Give weekly status reports to senior management on task statuses and deliverables.
• Maintain, review, and enhance knowledge articles and train new employees with the knowledge base.
• Maintain release trackers and matrix of all performed tasks
Experience and skills
• Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or as an Associate Project Manager, Project Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Senior Engineer - Technology, Associate Programmer, Consultant Mainframe or related position.
• Employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree and four years of related experience. Position requires four (4) years of experience in:
• Mainframe technologies
• COBOL programming
• Table/Array handling and SAS
• JCL development
• Abend Solving Methodology
• VSAM and sequential file
• DB2 and SQL/Xqurey
• CICS and OLTP
• Performance and Tuning
• writing complex SQLs and Stored procedure
• Native SQL and IBM debugger tools
• Putty, WinSCP, SVN and Startool
•Service Now, JIRA and RLC
• coordinating with stakeholders
• Onsite/offshore coordination of development teams
• debugging and production support
• working in complex applications with multiple stakeholders around the globe
