Meet with business stakeholders to understand project goals and requirements in order to quickly deploy reports and analytics using industry best practices.
Work directly with business customers to build report and dashboards with the COGNOS BI authoring suite (Framework Manager, Report Studio and Transformer).
Skills:
* Must have 4+ years of experience in IBM Cognos BI 8.x or 10.x
* Cognos BI Framework Manager Modeling
* Extensive experience with Report Studio/ advanced formatting techniques.
* Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, OLAP concepts and relational databases
* Knowledge on development standards & best practices.
* Understand and follow IT SDLC policies
* Communicate status, solutions and concerns.
* Strong analytical & critical thinking skills to debug / Troubleshoot issues.
Soft-Skills:
Demonstrate Initiative - Self-starter:
Recognize that a task needs to be accomplished, and takes the initiative to gather the details and see that the necessary points are addressed and carried-out.
Independent worker:
Demonstrate the ability to trouble-shoot an issue and drive a resolution. Will perform given assignments with little intervention of others or follow-up, while gaining knowledge of the application in the process.
Multi-tasking:
Must show that more than one task can be in the works at a time. This team supports many applications and this resource must be able to quickly change focus, while not losing sight of prior commitments and tasks. Must possess the ability to gather questions and concerns, note them with appropriate parties - then move onto other assignments while waiting for an answer.
Detail Oriented:
Must be able to gather requirements and identify the needs and details required to complete the task, while still being able to see the big picture. As developers, the requirements of an application are black-and-white. If the appropriate details are over-looked, the application will never meet the needs of the business.
Excellent communication skills:
Must effectively communicate with all levels. This includes management, peers and business teams. Must be able to clearly state the:
* current issues (enhancements/projects) at hand
* risks associated with the development of and or applying fixes (enhancements/projects) in a timely manner
* roadblocks to presenting the fix (enhancements/projects)
* status of issue resolutions (enhancements/projects) and time-line to completion
