Position: Java/J2EE Developer with GIS

Location: Omaha, NE

Duration: 6 months

Years of exp: 5-6 Years

Interview process: Telephonic only

Job description 

·         Skill set is Java J2EE

·         Responsible for Enterprise Event Bus (Built in house)

·         Enterprise Notification Application (ENA) – Notification services, sends notifications via many formats (voice, edi, text etc.) to customers if delays

·         Receive engineering data from EFMS application for GIS spatial services.

·         ESRI is GIS tool standard

·         8 Master files (ie: Location, Customer, STARS, Facility)

·         For GIS application, the foundation, lowest unit is the "track", everything is then related back to the "track".

·         The Transportation planning tool – where the train schedule is built.  Used by the Network and Planning operations team.  They run through a simulation model to forecast and plan volumes.

·         Marketing and Sales use Prophecy tool & Change Wire application to plan for new volumes/new customers

·         Still working with some legacy applications using Visual Basic, C++

Key individual on team is nearing retirement.  Keeper of a spreadsheet which tracks impedance (IE: weight, tonnage, placement violations, certain restrictions on bridges, etc.)    Near term opportunity to replace spreadsheet application with GIS application. The "limits" would be defined by GIS versus spreadsheet application which uses "station pairs".
