Title: Sr. MS SQL Server Developer

Location: Baltimore, MD or Remote

Duration: 6+ Months 

 

We are looking for specific expertise around the Oracle MySQL platform (vs. MS SQL Server).  The version of MySQL employed in the product offers is quite outdated and requires updating for many reasons.  In addition, the database engine within MySQL has changed and support of the MyISAM capability we are using is effectively deprecated in the newer versions.  Use of their InnoDB Engine will and must be the path forward.

 

Responsibilities

·         Give design and database architecture recommendations for database functions that meet business operating standards while improving the efficiency of business processes

·         Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary

·         Analyze the SQL queries within existing application and identify opportunities for improving the queries for newer versions.

·         Write custom SQL queries (KPIs, joining multiple tables and fields to bring the info, etc.) for a customer request meeting their requirements 

·         Employ mixed SQL engines for a "common" business goal (like Analytics and Dashboards) 

·         Analyze and enhance the SQL queries to comply with SDL and Security requirements (CIA: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) at rest, in memory and transit (of MySQL transactions). 

·         Design, implement, and monitor disaster recovery plans as it pertains to the production database environment

·         Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.

·         Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases

·         Prepare documentations and specifications

·         Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

 

Qualifications

·         Previous working experience as a MySQL Developer and or Architect for 5+ year(s)

·         Knowledge of multiple SQL servers (Oracle, MS SQL , MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)

·         BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or similar relevant field

·         Hands on experience with installation and configuration of MySQL in a multi-master environment

Applicable expertise in analysis and maintenance planning on production systems--
