Sr Linux Engineer

Job Description:

Description:

Assist in architecture and engineering of a managed Linux environment within AWS Workspaces VDI

Evaluate and deploy management tools such as Chef and Puppet to manage the environment including (not limited to)

Patch and vulnerability management

Software deployment

Device management / tracking and inventory

Image mgmt including CIS Hardening

Assist in documentation and knowledge transfer of such buildout to an operations team to run and maintain the environment long term

Familiarity with AWS and AWS Workplace a plus

Required Skills : 1. Strong Linux Engineering exp. – specific to workstations (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux 2, CentOS) 2. Strong Puppet OR Chef exp 3. Exp working in a heavy AWS environment 4. CIS Hardening exp

Basic Qualification : • Setting up Linux workstations – Ubuntu, Amazon Linux 2, CentOS • Managing workstations, setting up by using Puppet or Chef o Chef or Puppet? ? AWS native – chef has CIS hardening benchmarks out of the box, not necessarily a preference ? At least strong in one or the other • Amazon-Linux-Extras repository in AWS – Puppet or Chef would reach in and deploy to workstations • Productionize Linux workspaces into productions, currently in sandbox • CIS hardening - initial set up and for automatic remediation • Deploying approved apps to workspace, or other customizations • AWS environment exp is needed, their environment is 100% AWS • Ansible exp is a plus – automation mindset • AWS team will help with design, this person will do the build.. need to be hands on
