JOB SUMMARY:
The desired individual will perform senior level technical duties in addition to daily responsibilities.
The Network Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components. They will perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user satisfaction.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as Lead or Senior IT Network engineer
- Current CCNA, CCNP, CCNE and optionally a VOIP/SIP certification
- Windows Server 2003, 2008 & 2012
- Exchange and/or SQL experience a plus
- Understanding of infrastructure project lifecycle and methodology
- Additional certifications required by management
- Maintain network security through proper configuration of ACLs, VPN and Firewalls
- Must hold a valid drivers license with no restrictions and possess reliable transportation
- Possible need for after-hours work to be performed and/or On-call availability.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
1) RedHat Enterprise experience a plus
2) Cisco Unified Communication Manager configuration and infrastructure a plus
3) Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support a plus
Required Certificates
- Cisco and/or Brocade Certification
- Other related certifications for network technologies
Desired Certificates
1) Microsoft or RedHat Certification
2) ITIL certification or process background a plus
3) VoIP certifications
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, SSL/TLS, etc.)
- Configure and setup Cisco and Brocade Switches, Routers, VPN Concentrators, Load Balancers and Security appliances for access to vital business applications
- Design, setup and configure complex switching environments
- Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
- Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area and Wide Area Networking
- Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, Ether-Channel (Bonding), etc.
- Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems
- Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities
- Responding to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and support
- Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:
- Physical Characteristics: Body strength sufficient to lift up to 50 pounds; and to drive a vehicle;
- Environmental Conditions: Will be required to: work in an office and possibly on field assignments; drive your own car to work sites; work with changing deadlines and competing priorities.
