Position will be 2 days remote with 3 days (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) required to be onsite.

Key responsibilities include:
•Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Proven UX Design Experience: Extensive portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping (low and high-fidelity), and usability testing.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with established accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
• Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI/UX design.
• Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure that design decisions are aligned with business objectives.
• Employ a comprehensive suite of tools—including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar—and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimization strategies.
• Experience with AI/ML Interfaces: Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces for systems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with a focus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.
• Complex System Design: Ability to understand and design for complex business logic and regulatory requirements, particularly in domains like government services, healthcare, or finance.
• Data Visualization: Skill in presenting complex data and AI insights in a clear, concise, and understandable visual format.
• Empathy and User Advocacy: Deep commitment to understanding user needs and advocating for user-centered design principles.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present design solutions to stakeholders.
• Understanding of Accessibility Standards: Knowledge of WCAG and other accessibility guidelines to ensure inclusive design.
• Bonus: Experience with eligibility determination systems or similar rule-based, data-intensive applications.
II. CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems, including wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive design solutions that align with accessibility and branding standards.
- Experience applying UX design principles such as hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to create responsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces.
- Experience creating wireframes and prototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions.
- Experience designing graphical diagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and system architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate design workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple design streams across concurrent work effort.
