IDM Engineer / Administrator
Skills and Experience
The IDM Engineer / Administrator will have the following skills and experience
• Successfully completed the implementation of an IDM Solution (ex. Courion (a plus), IBM Tivoli, or Oracle Fusion).
• Proficient at Microsoft Windows Administration
o Preferably completed Microsoft certification (MCSE)
• At least 2 years knowledge and experience in one or more of the
following areas:
o Database Administration and Support (SQL or Oracle)
o IT infrastructure support, including problem diagnosis and
resolution
o Configuration and administration of Help Desk systems
o Configuration and administration of IT Security Systems
- CISSP a plus
o Development of macros, database queries, and/or scripting
(VBS or PERL)
• Excellent Project Management & Communication Skills
Periodic Tasks
The IDM administrator(s) will be required to perform:
• Capacity Management – periodically verify the current capacity of the
IDM platform meets actual request volumes
o Monitor request volumes
o Identify any denial of access due to capacity limitations
o Adjust load balancing, etc.
• Performance Management – periodically verify the IDM platform is
operating error-free
o Check the log files daily for error messages or other failures.
Diagnose the cause of any failures and resolve these problems
o Ensure the account mapping processes run to completion and
are error free
o Review any outputs generated by the account mapping process
e.g. no account ID's and other imperfect user mappings
o Periodically purge log files
• Backup and Restore
o Ensure the system backup process is operational
o Ensure the database backup process is operational
o Periodically test/verify the restore process
• Maintenance
o Archive and purge log files according to a defined schedule
o Initiate cleanup of orphaned or expired accounts identified by
the account mapping process
Business Application Changes
• Update IDM configuration(s) to reflect new or modified operating
parameters of business applications
o Change in role access entitlements
o Addition/deletion of user roles
• Work with business application owners to ensure the IDM
configuration is compatible with upgrades to business applications
o Make any configuration changes as required
o Modify scripting for custom connectors
IDM Application Changes
• Create/Modify IDM workflows and associated actions based on altered
or new business requirements
• Incorporate new target systems into workflows when they are identified
or requested.
• Incorporate new connectors into workflows when/if they are developed
(e.g. for home grown applications)
• Monitor periodic software updates and releases for suitability in customer
environment
o Apply IDM software updates as required.
o Ensure site specific features are compatible with the upgrade
Problem Management
• Provide a point of access for investigating problems associated with the
IDM application
• Diagnose reported problems and take corrective actions
o Unlock users if locked out
o Ensure connectivity and communications to registered target
systems
o Make necessary changes within the IDM workflows
• Provide the interaction point with Customer Support
o Register problems requiring IDM vendor assistance
o Work with IDM vendor support staff to identify and correct
problems
o Provide requested information in a timely manner (e.g. log
files, etc.)
o Coordinate other internal Customer resources as required
during problem diagnosis
