Responsible for and accountable for implementation and support services for secure multinational network, including regional Local Area Networks and Wide Area Network connectivity. Installs, implements, and supports secure network equipment and software. Uses a variety of testing tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with the network's hardware and software.
Will serve as a part of a global team to consult with business stakeholders regarding network requirements and applications supporting business processes; create design specifications for re-design of existing network environments; and implement and provide day-two post-implementation support for improve Local Area Networks.
This position is considered a subject matter expert in routing and switching. Candidate should be very comfortable presenting to groups, leading discussions or driving an agenda of meetings with customers on various topics related to networking, IP routing, switching, and network security. This position will focus on providing regional support but will be responsible for acting as a part of a larger international team. Candidate must be able to interact effectively with engineering business units and will serve as their local point of contact.
This position will require an estimated 25-33% travel, though candidate should be comfortable with up to 50% travel if necessary. Candidate must have a valid passport and be willing and eligible to travel internationally.
•Consults with business stakeholders regarding network requirements and business-critical applications
•Provides on-site engineering support for network migration projects.
•Assists in maintaining the local area network or wide area network, cable and hub installations, inventories, and other related duties.
•Assists in maintaining the operating systems and security software utilized on the network, including the addition of new users to the network and establishment of rights and privileges
•Maintains the network's physical and logical structures, including all network connections.
•Installs and tests network hardware and software, performs routine maintenance, and applies vendor updates to software.
•Prepares and analyzes statistics on network utilization and availability.
•Manages performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources.
•Communicates with vendors, users, management, and network programming staff.
•Creates accurate and complete as-built documentation.
Works under the moderate to general supervision of the Network and Security Operations Manager. Candidate must be motivated and able to manage and prioritize own activities effectively.
No formal supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with a degree in a related discipline. Four-year computer science or related degree preferred.
Minimum of ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in planning, designing, and maintaining enterprise-class networks a requirement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Success candidate requires considerable knowledge of large production Wide Area Networks. This role requires a strong background in Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching technologies.
The candidate should have a command of the following technologies:
•BGP and EIGRP routing
•Multi-homed load balancing and traffic engineering for automatic failover•Use of policy maps for routing
•MPLS, IPSEC VPN, and TACACS authentication
•Enabling technologies such as Gigamon span port replicators.Knowledge of the following products is required:
•Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching lines
•Cisco ASR and ISR routers
Knowledge of the following products is preferred:
McAfee Network Security products (firewall, IPS, F5 Load Balancers)
