Database Administrator (with IBM/AIX experience preferred).

 

JOB TITLE: Database Administrator

LOCATION: Orlando, Florida

DURATION: 7 months

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Database installation, configuration, upgrade, patching (knowledge in IBM/AIX platforms preferred)
  • Database administration

-    Extensive knowledge and experience to build and automate scripts in a UNIX environment for streams on Oracle 11g at a table level and schema level.

-    Ability to setup, automate, document and troubleshoot the Streams Replication at schema level and table level  to capture, propagate and apply the DML, DDL changes to the replicated database.

-    Automate error checking, document and troubleshoot and resolve problems in Oracle streams.

-    Use DATA PUMP/export import to instantiate SCN to avoid conflict at destination.

-    Ability to clone databases.

-    Monitor and manage Production and Development databases and also monitor instances locks, long running queries, listener, free space, extents growth and space management etc.

-    Troubleshoot database issues/error.

-    Responsible for maintaining 24x7 database uptime.

-    Deploying and managing fault-tolerance and high-availability and DR (Disaster Recovery) solutions including Oracle Streams and others.

-    Backup and recovery strategy and insure recoverability of Oracle databases.

-    Administering and enforcing database and user security policies and standards including privacy regulations.

-    Develop, maintain and improve efficient database processes, accurate documentation and best practices.

-    SQL and PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting.

-    Importing and Exporting data using Data Pump, data replication, data loading and extraction.

-    Scheduling jobs and Automating tasks.

-    Knowledge of Automatic Workload Repository (AWR), Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM), Active Session History (ASH).

-    Proficiency with Tuning - SGA, Monitoring and Detecting Locks.

BACKGROUND:

Client is comprised of PS-ERM, CORE Cash Receipting, Pitney Bowes, and First Data. We also interface with multiple applications such as Equifax, GIS, Maximo, ITRON, AutoScale, and Penn Credit for collections. Orange County Utilities bills approximately 6,300 accounts daily and all services are included in one bill. Wachovia is used for the Utilities lockbox processing and handles 40% of our customer payments. CheckFree handles 15% of the total payments.

 

Customer Service manages the billing and customer service for water, wastewater, reclaim water, capital charges, reservation & maintenance fees, tap fees, environmental surcharge, solid waste, and miscellaneous accounts receivable. The Division consists of the following workgroups:  Development, Meter Reading, Customer Service Field Representatives, Customer Account Analysts, Delinquent Accounts, Dispatch, Call Center, Billing, Cash, and CIS.

 

Orange County Utilities is currently in the 5th month of a 15th month Phase 1 project of a CIS upgrade from PeopleSoft Enterprise Revenue Manager (PS-ERM) to Oracle’s Customer Care and Billing (CC&B). 

 

The goals of this Phase 1 project are to:

·         successfully upgrade PS-ERM to CC&B retaining current functionality, reporting, queries, and interfaces

·         utilize new functionality offered

·         maximize the functionality of CC&B baseline

·         configure and/or develop plug-ins, algorithms, scripts, or other Products, Codes,

Components, and works for existing modifications and/or to achieve the existing functionality of the current CIS Solution. 

 

This shall be a long-term customer service solution following CIS Best Practices both current and future having the flexibility to meet the needs of the Citizens, the County, and the Utilities Department.
