The below req we need 60/40% SQL/Oracle DBA's or Oracle/SQL DBA's and this is a production support role and F2F is requited

 

Sr. SQL / Oracle DBA

Location: New York, NY

Duration: 6+ months with option to extend 

Hourly: $50-$52/hr

Start Date: ASAP

Face to Face

 

Job Description:

           

The group's focus is on setting technical direction in the Unix and Windows database environments and providing infrastructure solutions enabling a high-availability strategy.

 

Responsibilities include:

·         Production support of databases on Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL on Linux/Unix and Windows servers.

·         Support enterprise databases by performing database monitoring, performance tuning, database backup, clustering, replication, scripting to automate processes.

·         This position requires working 10am - 6pm and initially this resource does not require to be on-call, but this may change in the future. Require high-level expertise with Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL databases to support corporate technology decision to standardize database deployment on these platforms.

 

The individual filling this position will be responsible for:

·         Installation, maintenance, upgrades, and release management of databases.

·         Develop, document, and deploy database technical services.

·         Provide top-level technical assistance to business units and Customer Support department.

·         Work with peers and other support organizations to deploy new services.

·         Provide documentation, and customer support for new services.

·         Operate in teamwork environment with internal and external customers.

·         Additional responsibilities as instructed.

 

Skills:

·         In depth knowledge in one or more of the following technologies with previous engineering experience in large environment is needed:                                   

·         Proactive Monitoring, notifying and tuning database and application for optimal performance

·         Perform database backup and restore, ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity and space requirements                                   

·         Work with developers for query performance tuning                           

·         Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and windows Architecture                            

·         Able to document processes and procedures                          

·         Experience in Oracle 10g/11g data guard, MS-SQL 2008/2005 database replication                 

·         Experience in Oracle EM

·         Data Modelling and logical/physical database design is a plus                                   

·         Ability to read Programming/Shell scripting to automate daily DBA tasks is a plus    

 

Soft Skills:                  

·         Team Player with excellent communications required, as there is a significant interaction with client/end user communities.                          

·         Strong project management and organizational skills                         

·         Ability to articulate technology in business terms and translate business needs into technology strategy

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision                                 

·         Quick problem solver who can work under pressure and tight timelines / deadlines.
