[xrecnet] Linux Engineer, Cary, NC, Full Time

Job Title: Linux Engineer – L2

Location: Cary, NC – willing to travel Charlotte, NC (anytime based on the project basis).

Mode: Full time Only. 


 

Responsibilities:

-       Adhering to SLAs                                   

-       ITIL Processes awareness and adhering to                               

-       Mentoring / Training Team Members                           

-       Handling tickets / requests                               

-       Perform root cause analysis                              

-       Troubleshooting technical issues                                  

-       Defining processes and ensuring that the processes are adhered to                          

-       Oversees and is responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration                        

-       Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA                         

-     Understanding of Multi-geo support environment                                  

-       Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment                             

-       Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario                        

-       Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction                        

-       Suggests new technologies and design changes                                  

-       Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by the team members                        

-     Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support                                

-       Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level                                 

-       Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time                            

-       Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating                        

-     Assist / Plan / Procedure in Data centre consolidation efforts                          

-     Perform H/W & performance tuning and maintenance                          

-     Day-to-Day reporting analysis tasks                               

-     Vendor co-ordination & followup                        

                                   

Technical Requirements                              

                                   

-     Installing, configuring and maintaining Linux Servers / Virtualization                           

-     Installation and configuration of HA environment using Linux cluster or Veritas Cluster.                                

-     Configuration and administration of LVM and Veritas logical volume manager.                                   

-     Installing and Maintaining kickstart environment                                  

-     Patch and Package administration                                  

-     Printer Administration                             

-     Writing shell scripts to acomplish day to day system administration task                                

-     Configuring and supporting domains                              

-     Troubleshooting Hardware and Operating system related issue                                   

-     Administer and configure various FS like JFS,ext2, ext3, OCFS & Pseudo FS                              

-     Capacity planning and fine tune system for optimal performance                                 

-     Knowledge on Apache virtual hosting, SSL website config                                 

-     Understanding of SAN and NAS storage.                         

-     Administration of NIS or LDAP environment                                

-     Configuring Unix Security baseline                                 

-     Performance Management & fine tuning                        

-     Experience in System Fault Tolerance Design, Business continuity and Disaster recovery planning                            

                                   

Soft Skills                               

                                   

-       Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)                                  

-       Good documentation skills                                

-       Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE (Including MS Project and Visio)                               

-       Should have a great customer handling skills                           

-       Able to handle unforeseen situations                           

-       High level of acceptance                                   

-       Can drive HCL's value and its methodology                              

                                   

Other Skills / Experience                             

-      Worked on Production systems                          

-       Datacenter understanding                                 

-       Experience with Server Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching                                  

Experience on following will be added advantage                            

-       Samba                            

-       DNS                                

-       NIS+                                

-       Sendmail / Exim / Postfix / Qmail                                 

-       LDAP                              

-       Monitoring Tools (like BMC Patrol, HP openview, IBM Tivoli)

Total        :  7+ Years of experience                           

Relavant :   Minimum of 5 yrs in Linux Administration / Support
