Title : Hadoop Developer

Location : Charlotte, NC and MA

Duration : 6+months

 

The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for assisting with designing and implementing Big Data solutions in Amazon Web Services, and supporting the onboarding of internal customers to these environments to enable the success of their business initiatives.

 

The successful candidate must have 8-10 years of relevant sys admin and software engineering experience in roles with increasing responsibility, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in participating in Agile-based development projects.

 

Competencies/skills required:

• Hands on experience in standing up AWS services (EMR, EC2, S3) in a highly available production environment.

• Solid knowledge of Hadoop architecture and core components (Namenode, Datanodes, jobtrackers, task trackers, Oozie, Scribe, Hue, Flume, Hbase, etc.)

• Solid knowledge of Hadoop configuration and system tuning

• Experience debugging Hadoop component, stability, and performance issues

• Proven experience working directly with ETL customers

• Strong track record of experience in system engineering including installing and operating standard server configurations, working with complex network topologies, and solving problems in a Linux environment

• Advanced shell scripting, Puppet, and Python are a must

• Relational database experience such as MySQL or Oracle

• Understanding of encryption and key management principles

• Organized, good attention to details, and able to work independently

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and emerging requirements

• Java programming and Ruby highly desirable
