Location: Mclean, VA

Duration: 6+ Months 

Role Description

Senior analyst/Modeler with data and business process model experience is a must for creating inventory of all systems in Investment and Capital Markets division with four work streams:

·         Data Portfolio

·         Data Lineage

·         Data Quality

·         Data Governance

Data Modeler with ER/Studio or similar tool – familiarize with Canonical Data Model, any ICM model/s that exist, agree on terms and taxonomy, build conceptual data model, not fully attributed, which will be developed eventually, allow for sharing and usage for searching by others e.g. self-service, HTML publication, browsing, allowing collaboration (can be done in parallel).

 

Job Description:
• BS/BA degree with 6+ years of consulting experience
• Advanced knowledge of application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
• Proficiency in one or more database platforms, tools: Data Modelling: ER/Studio, ERWin, Toad Data Modeler, Infosphere Data Architect, Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeller, Platforms: Teradata, Hadoop, Cassandra and Hive, Collaboration Tools: Confluence, JIRA, VersionOne
• Gather and Publish Data Dictionaries: Maintain data models in data modelling environments. Capture data models from existing databases, and record descriptive information into them
• Publish existing conceptual and logical models in HTML or other browsable format for wider consumption and sharing
• Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
• Identify business needs, organize and define data, create and maintain Conceptual, Logical and Physical data models; Maintain appropriate Version Control on data models
• Participate in the de-normalization of the data model, ensuring that business rules which are impacted during de-normalization are implemented via an alternate mechanism (i.e. trigger, application code).
• Closely work with the App Dev team and DBA to create an appropriate Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Model
• Present data designs and project approaches to the Data Review Board (DRB) for review and approval, and ensure all DRB artifacts are created with clients
• Generate DDL and validate that the DDL is implemented properly
• Identify opportunities to reuse data and reduce redundancy in data across the enterprise
• Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement
• Working proficiency in developmental toolsets
• Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices
• Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture
