Position: Disaster Recovery Engineer -CBCP Certified
**Pharmaceutical background is required**
**This is a contract to hire, so they must role permanent after 6 months**

I. POSITION SUMMARY: The IT Disaster Recovery Engineer is responsible for defining, implementing and managing a best-practice based IT Disaster Recovery and Availability Management process and for ensuring that the requirements of IT Disaster Recovery and the Business are met. The incumbent will align the IT Disaster Recovery process and products with Business Continuity requirements to ensure that IT Disaster Recovery plans, risks and activities are capable of meeting the negotiated business service availability targets. Key components in accomplishing this are Business Impact Analyses, risk assessments and periodic disaster preparedness tests.

| II. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with Business and Informatics stakeholders to conduct Business Impact Analyses for all existing and new business services. 2. Develop, implement and maintain the IT Disaster Recovery process, in accordance with the overall requirements of the organization's Business Continuity Management process, and represent the IT services function within the Business Continuity Management process. 3. Perform risk assessment and risk management to prevent disasters where cost-justifiable and where practical. 4. Communicate and promote IT Disaster Recovery concepts and priorities within Informatics. Coordinate process reviews utilizing independent parties to provide an objective view on the simplicity of theprocess and areas for improvement. 5. Identify and implement process policy and design improvements. Chair the Recovery meetings that are used to identify and action recovery issues and to verify that all steps were completed and the objective of the process was achieved 6. Assess potential service continuity issues and invoking the Disaster Recovery Plan if necessary. 7. Perform post mortem reviews of Disaster Recovery tests and invocations, and instigating corrective actions where required. 8. Arrange and run all IT Disaster Recovery reviews with the IT Disaster Recovery team. 9. Undertake regular reviews, at least annually, of the Continuity Plans with the business areas to ensure that they accurately reflect the business needs. 10. Manage IT Disaster Recovery during times of a disaster. This includes coordinating the disaster recoveryteam and liaising with the business. 11. Will control and review: o Outstanding process related actions o Current targets for availability performance o The process mission statement

Education: BA/BS in computer science or equivalent education and professional work experience.
Experience: 5 years experience in Contingency Planning or Business Planning role.
Licensure/Credentials: Certified Business Continuity Professional [CBCP] preferred Certified in ITIL is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Awareness of the business priorities, objectives and business drivers. · Awareness of the role IT plays in enabling the business objectives to be met. · Excellent customer service skills. · Communication style based around information and escalation. · Have practical and quantifiable process management experience. · Excellent organization and analytic skills · Ability to assess the impact of disasters on different business areas and people. · Ability to help in the process or restoring service as quickly as possible in the event of a disaster. · Ability to identify data from the IT Service Continuity Management process that will help with theidentification of trends and improvements relating to disaster recovery. · Ability to run a meeting according to strict guidelines. · Good interpersonal and negotiation skills. · Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization.. · Ability to analyze best practices, industry trends, technology capabilities and process results and workflows to identify innovative and effective approaches to improve the process. · Coordinate IT Service Continuity activities and process definition with key stakeholders throughout Informatics, especially in relation to Problem Management, Change Management and Service Level Management. |

| VI. SCOPE OF POSITION:
Supervision Received:
Reports to the Senior Manager – Infrastructure Technical Solutions. The IT Disaster Recovery Engineer will receive guidance as necessary to successfully execute the assigned duties. The IT Disaster Recovery Engineer is expected to function reasonably independently, escalating issues and concerns when appropriate to the Senior Manager.
Supervision Exercised:
The IT Disaster Recovery Engineer is required to provide indirect supervision to Technical Solutions staff, support technicians, consultants and temporary interns assigned to IT Disaster Recovery activities, and direct supervision to staff fully assigned to IT Disaster Recovery. In this capacity the IT Disaster Recovery Engineer will be expected to ensure that daily tasks are assigned and monitored and provide the necessary administrative support. The IT Disaster Recovery Engineer will interact with his/her peers in ensuring the recoverability and continuity of new and existing IT Services.
Scope of Responsibility:
Manage the day to day IT Disaster Recovery staff supporting service delivery.
