Program Objective – Client's Cloud team is looking for two experienced software developers to work with an international Cloud Provider helping to develop and build their next generation storage cloud.  These developers will work closely with an established team within the client and other Analysts consultants.  Taking part in regular sprints, meeting with team members to develop and complete agreed-upon user stories developing and deploying a virtual environment used for testing. Primarily using GoLang to extend the Kubernetes built-in API, by adding and upgrading custom types and fields. Adding and upgrading custom types and fields, and building controllers to handle them.  Writing tests for the Virtual Environment using Ginkgo and Gomega.

 

Responsibilities

• Develop modular, clean code with comprehensive tests
• Refactor existing code as you develop new code; leave both in clean, modern state
• Attend daily standups, demo work during reserved demo time, attend team
• Meet with colleagues across company to better understand requirements and ensure that new work fulfills real needs
• Use software design principles to determine where functionality should be built, within applications and between applications (occasionally in completely new services)
• Provide clear documentation
• Provide clear and advance communication to colleagues and stakeholders about upcoming system changes
• Take initiative to substantially improve customer and colleague workflows
• Use advanced new technologies judiciously to reduce complexity

 

Required Skills

• Containers and virtualization
• Development with extending Kubernetes from the inside
• Creating API's, controllers and DeamonSets
• Development of tooling that automates large scale data center infrastructure
• Including large scale NAS storage system and clustered systems
• Software development skills 
• 10 years programming including 3 years GoLang
• Gomega
• Understanding of REST
• Knowledge of monitoring (Prometheus, Graphite) and logging (ELK, fluentd)
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Functional Programming Principles
• Git, GitHub and ZenHub
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Development
• Agile development
• Understanding of modern cloud (compute, storage, networking)
• Server and cluster concepts: backup, load balancing, ACL, DR

 

Education

• BS/MS in computer science or computer engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience
