COMPANY / DEPARTMENT CULTURE (why do you enjoy working for the company – selling points
for potential candidates):
This position will provide Quality Assurance duties for MEDS, MMIS, MMRS, and RMMIS
systems projects. The Mainframe Quality Assurance team is a combination of Clemson
information technology professionals and experienced consultants, and we are seeking
individuals who are highly productive, very flexible, and can work effectively in an environment
where ambiguity is common. Team members are expected to contribute with minimal supervision
and be self-motivated. The project demands individuals who are strong collaborators, who want
to make a positive contribution to the State of South Carolina and can understand top-level goals
and objectives and drive toward them.
Candidates who enjoy working on complex, change-oriented projects with motivated team
members will find this position attractive.
WHY IS THIS POSITION OPEN (new role, increased work load, new dept, resignation, promotion)?
If backfill Position – What separated the candidate you initially selected from all the other
resumes presented?
This position is open due to ongoing projects/tickets in progress by MITS/DHHS as well as
upcoming projects next year e.g. DASH, translator upgrade, UC4 etc.
WHAT TYPES OF STAFFING CHALLENGES OR HEADACHES HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST?
• Resumes that include extensive details for candidates with limited actual experience.
Especially, with candidates who may have participated on "many" projects but were not
required to implement a project from start to finish or provide significant contribution to
the project.
• Candidates who have very little QA/Testing Experience, a lot of development experience.
• Recruiters submitting multiple, clearly unqualified candidates
• Candidates unable to prepare and deliver a coherent presentation as part of the interview process.
• Resumes that exceed two pages make it difficult to review timely.
Notes to recruiters:
• Previous experience in health care related information technology, insurance information
technology, Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS), Medicaid eligibility,
or social services eligibilityis absolutely required.
• This position requires excellent communications skills including effective oral and
written communication. If a vendor finds it necessary to substantially revise a candidate's
resume or add additional or clarifying information at the top of the candidate's resume,
then the resume is not yet ready for submission and the candidate will likely not be a
good fit.
