Skills
Client is seeking a Sr. SQL Server Development Manager. The successful candidate will be a key member and technical lead in the Finance IT team working across all aspects of database development and support within a high-energy team focusing on effective and efficient solutions for business challenges in the Finance organization.
The incumbent will be responsible for SQL Server database development across multiple supported Finance platforms, as well as data integration and ETL (including virtual technologies).
This will require a high-level of proficiency with database design, development, and management.
Minimum Skills
10+ years of SQL Server development experience
7+ years leading database development
Demonstrable mastery of SSIS and SSRS
Experience with latest version of SQL Server
Performance tuning
Experience with features such as partitioning, indexing schemes, table compression, etc.
5+ years managerial experience, including managing off-shore resources
Project Management experience
Must be a team player and able to work with and through others
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
Ability to reprioritize work items based on business needs
Strong Problem solving and root cause identification skills
Strong verbal/written communications and presentation skills
BS or equivalent university degree
Preferred Skills and Experience
- MCSA or MCSE certification
- MSc in Computer Science or similar degree
- Experience with Embarcadero tools: DBArtisan and ER/Studio
- Experience in the Banking and/or Large Corporate Financial Services companies in a technology development and support capacity
Duties
- Work closely with end-users to understand, design, and deliver effective and stable solutions to business requirements
- Guide, monitor, and manage all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Gain and apply mastery of Finance data within CIT
- Understand and follow IT Service Management best-practices and protocols
- Monitor daily system activities, provide required support, and remediate emergent problems and incidents
- Continually improve system performance, business process efficiency, and user experience
- Manage on- and off-shore development resources
- Effectively communicate status of production environment to leaders and project status to stakeholders
