Position 1

Job Title: Network Security Analyst
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: 12 Months
 
Work involves planning, implementing, and monitoring security measures using the NIST Risk Management Framework and Texas security frameworks for information systems and infrastructures. Works under limited supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
DUTIES - The essential duties for this contract include:
  • Assist with implementation and management the TxDOT Secure System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes
  • Coordinates the implementation of system security plans with agency personnel and outside vendors.
  • Confers with users to discuss issues such as account permission and data access needs, security violations, and programming changes.
  • Advises management and users regarding security configurations and procedures.
  • Develops and recommends plans to safeguard information systems from accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs.
  • Participates in the development of information technology disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Performs and reviews technical risk assessments and reviews of new and existing applications and systems, including data center physical security and environment.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends systems and procedures for the prevention, detection, containment, and correction of data security breaches.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Position 2

Job Title: Juniper Network Engineer
Location: Austin, TX

 
WORK DESCRIPTION:
Austin Energy seeks an IT Network Consultant to provide overall network engineering and support for our Operations Technology (OT) systems located at Austin Energy's Power Plants. OT systems can include Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's) as well as associated data historians (OSI PI). The consultant's job duties include designing, documenting, and building OT network solutions; maintaining various network components; using experience to recommend new technologies and solutions – all in adherence with NERC/CIP standards. This position requires on-call support for 24-hour utility operations, travel to different sites to survey, troubleshoot, and integrate network solutions.
The primary duties of the position:
1. Operation and administration of OSIsoft Plant Information system/historian
2. Firewall configuration and rule set programming with Juniper Network equipment or equal
3. Protocol analysis using one or more network analyzers
4. Knowledge of Operating Systems, such as Microsoft and Unix, Linux and Networking equipment
5. Knowledge of installing, maintaining, and using unshielded twisted pair and fiber optic cable technologies.
6. TCP/IP network architecture
7. Industrial Firewall management
8. Industrial Managed switch operation
9. Offline Microsoft Operating System Patch Management Experience with RS232 communication Protocol
10. Act as SME for related NERC/CIP compliance and audit efforts
11. Provide collaborative input to infrastructure planning and design
12. Present findings to key stakeholders
13. Travel to and from different work sites to perform work, as needed
14. Disaster Recovery Method Planning and Implementation (including Bare Metal, RAID, etc.)
