Job Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Mainframe Testing Support Analyst to provide end-
to-end testing support across backend systems. The ideal candidate will have
strong technical expertise in mainframe environments and a proactive approach to
resolving environment-related issues that impact client testing cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Provide end-to-end testing support for backend systems, ensuring smooth
integration and functionality across environments.
Monitor and support file transmissions, including performing replay and
retransmission of files as needed to maintain data integrity.
Ensure all client service level agreements (SLAs) are met consistently during
testing and support operations.
Work closely with QA, development, and infrastructure teams to maintain stable and
reliable test environments.
Note: Upstream and downstream systems outside the defined workflow are out of
scope for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience in mainframe batch and online systems.
Proven ability to manage and troubleshoot test environments and file transmission
workflows.
Familiarity with CA-7 job scheduling, JCL debugging, and CICS transaction
monitoring.
Excellent communication and coordination skills to work across cross-functional
teams.
Experience in client-facing roles or production support is a plus.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Role requires mainframe platform batch and CICS with DB2 processing and front-end
support engaging with development to resolve E2E environment related issues
impacting client testing cycles.
Monitor E2E batch flow to ensure batch streams are processing on time, identify issues
that require corrective action and follow up for resolution.
Serve as an escalation point for client issues related to the E2E environment.
Analyze documentation supporting changes in a complex E2E environment.
Responsible for performing root cause analysis, first level investigation, escalation and
resolution of batch job failures in a timely manner.
Ensure E2E client service level agreements are attained
Troubleshoot and restore service to batch processing on mainframe using industry
accepted techniques and procedures.
Implement appropriate corrective actions to eliminate recurring batch job failures,
coordinating, monitoring, approving change related activities, performing training and
coaching for less experienced team members, update procedures as changes occur
and deficiencies are identified.
Monitor and support transmissions, replay/retransmit files as needed
Able to initiate bridge calls when multiple application and support teams require direct
communication between each other to resolve problems.
Capable of promoting Incidents to Incident Management for a severe issue where
production is impacted.
Ability to page out Application Teams for batch issues/abends and page additional
Application Teams/additional resources when needed.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Own end-to-end solution design, impact analysis, and technical architecture for complex systems.
2. Develop, optimize, and review COBOL programs, JCL jobs, DB2 queries, and CICS transactions.
3. Lead performance tuning for batch windows, DB2 access paths, and CICS TPS optimization.
4. Manage code promotion, release planning, and ensure compliance with audit and security standards.
5. Drive modernization initiatives (API enablement, DevOps pipelines).
6. Mentor and coach junior developers; enforce coding standards and best practices.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BA, QA, Ops, DBA) and manage stakeholder expectations.
8. Provide production support leadership, RCA for critical incidents, and implement permanent fixes.
9. Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and contribute to governance frameworks.
10. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to mainframe development.
11. Conduct Daily Team huddle meetings and Shift handover calls
Skills Required:
1. COBOL: Advanced programming, modular design, error handling, performance optimization.
2. JCL: Complex job streams, utilities (SORT, IDCAMS), scheduling dependencies.
3. DB2: Advanced SQL, stored procedures, triggers, bind/package management, performance tuning.
4. VSAM: Dataset design, IDCAMS scripting, recovery strategies.
5. CICS: Transaction design, pseudo-conversational flows, resource definitions, BMS maps.
6. Expertise in debugging tools (Abend-AID, Xpediter), File-AID, and job schedulers (CA7/Control-M).
7. Strong knowledge of SDLC, Agile practices, and change management processes.
8. Leadership in code reviews, mentoring, and technical governance.
