Position        :           Java Developer

Location       :           Lansing, MI
Duration       :           6 month contract-to-hire

Visa Status  :           GC, US Citizen only

 

·         3-5 years combined experience with Oracle, SQL, HTML, CSS & JavaScript.

·         1-2 years Linux

·         Communication is big.  They will be working with Dev Engineers, Dev Managers, QA and Customer Support.  They need to be able to convey what they are seeing to provide the right solutions for the customer.  The hiring manager stressed this with me each time I have spoken with him.

·         It will be a high pressure position, because they are referring to it right now as a triage.  They will be working through a number of issues at one time.

·         Need to be competent in application development.  Understand how it works and is built, but not an expert.

·         Will need to dig into code.

·         Troubleshoot to find root cause.

·         Should be able to recognize what the software should and should not be doing.

·         Recognize patterns over time.  Reoccurring issues.

·         Want to get to the point to where they are doing preventative maintenance.

·         There is NO new design involved with the position, just need to understand how it works.

·         If someone wants to only work on new design/development, then they are not the right candidate.
