Position: SQL Server DBA

Location: Malvern, PA

Duration: 6 Months Contract

 

The consultants will be focused on a project to migrate individual customer databases in two ways:

·         From SQL Server 2008 to 2012.

·         From traditional physical servers to virtual servers within the same datacenter, where HyperV is the virtualization platform.

·         Need a SQL Server DBA type that understand the database platform well, and preferably that has proven experience doing version upgrade migrations.  The ideal upgrade experience would be 2008 to 2012, but experience doing in place upgrades with prior versions would also be acceptable.  Software changes to take advantage of new features specific to SQL Server 2012 will NOT be done at the same time as the migrations.  These folks also need to have experience supporting very high availability systems.

·         Consultant should be comfortable executing in an agile environment, preferably having had past experience with Scrum.

·         Consultant needs to be confident in their skills and able to stand up to difficult questions, as well as able to stand their ground in design debates with others.

 

The following are not required, but are nice to haves:

·         Hadoop experience

·         SQL Server System Center automation experience

·         Power shell scripting experience
