Job Title: Sr. Cloud Architect
Location- Remote for Now (Client Location: Chicago, IL)

Duration: Long Term

Visa Status: Only USC, GC, EAD (Except OPT and CPT)

 

Required Skills:

The Cloud Architect is responsible for architecture, and design, for cloud native and hybrid cloud applications. Guides small teams of software engineers and architects using agile methodology, with focus on continuous delivery and SE craftsmanship. Provides mentoring and coaching as well as acting as a role model for junior application architects and software engineering staff.

Collaborate on cloud vision and strategy, application migration roadmap and gain buy-in from across business and IT area leads

Provide assessment of current state architecture, recommendation of future state architecture using cloud technologies and develop reusable technical reference architectures to promote cloud adoption

Perform detailed analysis of application cross sections, map to cloud functions and enable application migration to the cloud

Create data/transition architectures that map to future state cloud strategy and solutions

Provide architecture leadership for large scale migration of existing data center hosted applications to the cloud

Define governance models, processes, best practices and standards that promote the security and operational effectiveness of the cloud ecosystem

Support the formation of cloud service teams for the governance and administration of the cloud ecosystem through training and hands-on support

Define and document cloud processes and standards and influence the adoption of these processes and standards

Lead cost optimization and estimation discussions including usage analysis, Cloud resource (Compute, Storage, Network etc.) planning, technology infrastructure rightsizing, pricing models and buying strategies

Foster high-performance architecture and design culture that delivers business value and takes pride in good quality design

Coach and mentor best practices in architecture frameworks, strategy, roadmaps, data security, cloud technologies, FHIR and other interoperability standards.

Propose and execute steps to measure and remediate technical debt in application portfolio.

Deliverable: Cloud architecture deliverables - standards, governance, best practices, reference architecture, design patterns, application architecture and data architecture.

Skills Required:

Architecting applications for execution in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud

Architecting systems using cloud based big data technologies including AWS EMR, AWS Kinesis, Sqoop, Spark, Hive, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.

Healthcare data (providers, members, claims, clinical data)

Agile and SAFe methodologies

API microservices and FHIR standards

AWS certifications

Java, modern JavaScript, Big Data certifications

 

Problem solver with proven track record of refactoring legacy monoliths to cloud native applications

Business minded leader with track record of delivering business value through technology. Partners with product managers to translate business needs into technical roadmaps

Technologist with people skills - Team leader capable of mentoring and culture building

Knowledge of best practices and market trends pertaining to Cloud to provide thought leadership and mentor team to build necessary competency

Deep understanding of cloud security with focus on applying techniques for protecting sensitive (PHI/PII) data including encryption, masking and tokenization

Comprehensive understanding of cost models for cloud services and experience evaluating ROI of proposed cloud architectures

Strong analytical, research and conceptual skills (preferred)

The ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects (preferred)

Excellent presentation skills and communication skills (preferred)

Understand and consistently apply the attributes and processes of current architecture and design methodologies (preferred)

Ability to develop and maintain key relationships to achieve business objectives essential (preferred)

Strong understanding of the health insurance industry. (preferred)

Strong leadership skills (preferred)
