Job Title: Storage Engineer
Location: Plano, TX(Need Locals)
Duration: 6 months 
 
The Storage Engineer is a member of Infrastructure team & is responsible for supporting the Plano Migrations Program. Candidate should be experienced & highly skilled in multi-terabyte scale, heterogeneous storage environments including storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) & associated backup/ management software that underlies mission-critical product suites. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Establishes procedures for user requests for storage according to business needs and in alignment with project schedules 
Supervises and assists incident response on storage hardware 
Creates and implements storage systems configuration designs of high complexity 
Establishes procedures for and performs storage systems maintenance; accepts input from management and customers in design 
Develops capacity planning models to be used as input to strategic decision making 
Provides primary storage administrator functions for storage environment; duties encompass a full range of disk space and infrastructure optimization (I/O) management architecture, support, and troubleshooting areas 
Creates complex target storage layout-emphasis on reliability, scalability and serviceability 
Designs and implements client host configuration and maintains best practices 
Develops policy and process for scheduled backup and recovery strategy; restores and recovers data where necessary 
Provides training / materials for storage-recovery related products & policies 
Participates in triage and root cause analysis; can be available during specified hours of program work 
Performs support of production/development SAN and NAS systems, including diagnosis/response to capacity, availability/performance related issues 
Provides root cause problem analysis, along with recommendations to prevent 
Provides problem resolution by making full use of resources, including vendors 
Creates design documents, RAID group assignments, LUN assignments, host configurations and performs switch zoning 
Selects, implements, schedules and supports backup systems 
Creates/implements data replication and DR plans, methods, techniques & testing 
Creates processes for storage mgmt related software installation and configurations 
Maintains appropriate records of licensing and capacity of all equipment 
Develops and implements monitoring solutions to assist in the availability of storage services 
Proactively monitors and manages SAN, NAS and server disk space and I/O utilization 
Supports and/or performs the installation, extension and configuration of Storage infrastructure, including switches, fiber, disks, shelves, enclosures, controllers and data replication hardware 
Schedules and selects firmware and security-related upgrades to SAN switches, controllers, disks, etc. during maintenance windows 
Analyzes storage, recovery, and monitoring technologies in order to provide input for strategic direction setting 
Identifies storage assets, discusses projected growth rates with management, and reviews and enhances current storage change control procedures 
Analyses storage consumption and I/O performance on an application, host, LUN, volume or group level and provides accurate trend analysis 
 
Qualifications: 
6+ years of equivalent previous Storage and Backup administration experience; 6+ years of directly related work experience is required for individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree 
Senior Level Storage Engineer with 6+ years of direct experience in designing, implementing,managing, and supporting mid to large Enterprise Storage environments 
Experience with EMC, Data Domain, NetApp, and Comm Vault products 
DC Migration experience preferred 
Demonstrate strong experience with the design, engineering, and implementation of complex storage environment
