2.2 Milestone 2: Environment creation for vFabric Technologies in Map: Data Center

 

Consultants will prepare environments in a data center based in Napa. CA (includes development, Quality assurance, staging and production) for Customer's development and operations teams

 

Consultants will install to Server, SQLFire, vPostgreSQL and RabbitMQ in Customer's data center. Consultants will create environments with configurations that adhere to accepted best practices in the VMware customer base and aim towards optimizing the environment for scalability, Performance and availability. Executable architectures realized by Consultants will consider future application architectures and expected load patterns presented to Consultants by Customer and determined during this engagement Clustering will be enabled to foster high availability for future deployments

 

Environments must be created for development, quality assurance, staging and production such environments must support Customer's development and operations team to implement future state architectures of both current and novel applications that will leverage to Server, SQLFire, vPostgreSOL and or RabbitMQ. Deployment of actual Customer applications is out of scope for this engagement

 

Consultants will perform all environment creation upon virtualized infrastructure. Consultants will demonstrate for Customer how to handle VMware VSphere templates to create arbitrary clones of the deployments they produce.

 

Subsequent engagements will address similar environment creation on physical infrastructure that will become available to Customer in the final months at 2013. Consultants will provide a set of documented tactical steps that Customer will be able to follow when physical resources arrive and will result in environment replication on such physical infrastructure with the same levels of scalability, reliability and performance

 

2.3 Milestone 3:  Runbooks and Mentoring Around Deployment, Monitoring and Management

 

Consultants will document run books for IT Automation processes that would be valuable for Customer to automate, related to the management of the lull application lifecycle of applications deployed upon vFabric technologies that Customer has selected (etc Server. RabbitMQ, vPostgreSQL and SQLEFire)

 

Consultants will provide automation scripts for some of the processes documented. Consultants will mentor Customer teams in an informal manner, to explain excepted best practices in lifecycle management, including deployment and how they motivate suggestions provided for IT Automation

 

Consultants will include recommendations for the handling of monitoring and integration of monitoring procedures with existing Customer monitoring technologies
