Skill                : Sr Network Engineer (with AWS experience)

Location         : Cary, NC

Duration        :  6-12+ months (GC & USC's are preferred)

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Minimum 7 years of experience managing and deploying network infrastructure.
• Network administration involving installation, support, patch analysis, and maintenance.
• Deep understanding of network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, TCP, and DNS
• Detailed understanding and hands-on experience working with AWS Networking components, Transit Gateway, Virtual Gateway, Internet Gateway, VPC, ELB, NLB, Flow logs, and Route53
• Knowledge and hands-on management of Palo Alto Firewall appliances, Cisco switches, and Wireless.
• Ability to design and support secure extranet communications with industry participants and service providers.
• Deep understanding of MS Azure/AWS network best practices
• Experience developing and applying Access Control Lists and Security Groups to protect virtual assets and services.
• Expertise of Hybrid connectivity to allow Cloud and internal architectures to connect
• Experience in implementing automation in Cloud environments
• Ability to mentor and train internal technical teams
• Experience with Cloud Architecture and design
• Must be a self-starter, quick learner of new technology (virtual infrastructure, containers, databases etc.), and be highly motivated.
• Experience with networking Concepts (Routing, VLANs, VPCs, Route Tables, Subnet management), Network Services (DNS, DHCP, IPSEC, TLS, and SNMP), and familiarity with the TCP/IP protocol suite.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related work experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with the following products: Linux v.5 or higher, AWS/Azure Networking, RedHat, VMware, moderate Shell & Perl scripting, Jenkins, BitBucket, Terraform, and other configuration management tools.
• Experience documenting and establishing external communication links with telecom circuit providers and building customer VPN/extranets.

 

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning and development of new technology to improve performance and productivity, reduce IT costs, and improve profitability.
• Works with our technical architects and systems engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions
• Develop and implement capabilities to reduce time to delivery of platforms through orchestration and automation
• Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
• Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle
• Automate repetitive, manually time-consuming O&M tasks
• Educate and mentor system engineering team on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
• Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they cascade into problems.
• Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.
• Resolve issues working with cross-departmental teams; customer support, application developers, vendor IT contacts, network, and database administrators.
• Responsibilities include systems and equipment technology assessment, system performance analysis, system integration planning, specification development, test and evaluation, and system concept formulation/design/analysis.
• Works with little supervision with respect to scheduling and assignments of tasks with results and progress occasionally reviewed.
• Ensure user satisfaction by providing preventive maintenance, network troubleshooting and problem resolution services.
• Solve moderately complex problem situations and participate in the identification of opportunities for improvement to processes, procedures, or tools.
• Create and maintain platform/network architecture documentation.
