Title – Security Engineer
Location – Bay Area, CA (Locals)
Duration – 12 Months
Job Description
We are looking for a Security Engineer with strong software development skills to help build and improve a system that measures the security risk of different technology assets within an organization. This system, called Security Impact Rating (SIR), helps prioritize security efforts by identifying which assets pose the greatest potential risk. Experience between 3 to 6 years.
Key Responsibilities
• Understand different types of technology assets and how they relate to each other in terms of security risk.
• Identify and collect security signals (data points) that indicate the risk level of each asset.
• Design algorithms that calculate a security risk score for assets based on these signals and their relationships.
• Write and maintain code to implement these algorithms and integrate them into the company's security infrastructure.
• Validate and test the accuracy of the risk scores through manual review and automated testing.
• Collaborate with other engineers, security share progress, and communicate results.
• Monitor the system after launch to ensure it continues to provide accurate and useful risk ratings, and make improvements as needed
Required Skills
• Strong programming skills in languages commonly used for backend development (e.g.,PHP, Python)
• Experience designing and implementing algorithms that process complex data.
• Ability to analyze and work with large datasets to extract meaningful security signals.
• Familiarity with security concepts such as access control, data sensitivity, data classification methodology and risk assessment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation.
• Devsecops, secure SDLC
