Position: System Engineer (VOIP)
Location: Chevy Chase, MD
Duration: 6+ Months Contract

The Telecommunications department is seeking highly motivated, organized, systems engineer with minimum 5 years's experience in VoIP telephony systems design, implementation, and support. Strong technical leadership is required to drive large scale system deployments throughout the organization.

Considered a specialist in a specific systems area or generalist in multiple system areas and recognized in their business unit. Significant domain knowledge of department products and systems. Serve as a system architect to plan, capture and manage requirements, analyze, design, test and document systems of moderate complexity and may lead system integration. Recommend new tools and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in systems development processes. Decisions may have significant impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance. Act as a mentor to engineers in additional areas including domain knowledge and lessons learned. Lead preparation of proposals and presentations. Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk. May lead cross-functional / domain teams in a Project Engineering role. Provide input to technical & product roadmaps. Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field or six years related exempt experience plus eight years related exempt experience. Analysis - Seeks support and input from key team members before the start of an in-depth analysis of a problem. Cooperation - Fosters teamwork across the company, always acting the with best interests of the company in mind. Coordinating - Exerts consistent effort to ensure that all necessary information is supported internally and externally. Customer Service Orientation - Provides superior customer experiences, while building long-term relationships and demonstrating a passion towards customer commitments. Dependability - Exerts consistent effort to provide quality results that are focused on the bottom-line. Judgment - Able to make quick and well-informed decisions, even under high pressured situations. Relationships - Displays sensitivity and awareness of how his/her actions affect customers and coworkers. Speaking - Speaks clearly and comfortably in both planned and impromptu situations. (5+ years experience)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain VoIP telephony initiatives for Client's contact centers and back office
  • Interface with business customers and peer IT teams to develop & analyze requirements and solution/system delivery
  • Develop process and procedures for implementation and operational support of systems
  • 24x7 production support & technical support to team and customers

Required Qualifications:

  • Hands on knowledge of Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise (UCCE), Unified Communications Manager (UCM):
  • CVP v8.5 (includes CVP Studio)
  • UCCE 9.0
  • CUCM 9.0
  • Unity Connection 9.0
  • Cisco Unified Intelligence Suite
  • Cisco Prime 9.0
  • Understanding & experience in implementing, operating, configuring, and troubleshooting a converged IP network
  • IOS Device Configuration & Troubleshooting
  • IPv4 addressing
  • Subnetting
  • VLANs / Voice VLANs
  • QoS for Voice
  • Network trace tools (e.g. Wireshark)
  • Proven experience in end-to-end problem determination/troubleshooting system issues
  • Design/Architect IP Telephony systems
  • Familiarity with SIP integration techniques - carrier, cross systems, etc.
  • Experience in providing contact center solutions (call routing, CTI, systems integration, etc.)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of legacy telephony systems (ACD, PBX, IVR, ICM/CTI, Voice Mail, etc.) and client/server & database/reporting applications desired
  • Proficient in MS Office product set: MS Word, Excel, power point, Visio, Project
  • Experience in systems and business analysis
