Position:  CISCO WAN LAN Specialist - - # 519

Location: - Albany, NY

Duration: - - 24 Months

 

Job Description:

 

• The design and support of a multi-vendor network environment (Juniper, Cisco, Nortel) that supports over 500 remote locations
• Meet with customers to gather requirements and provide appropriate network solutions
• Assist in the evaluation of hardware platforms and software products
• Configuring and maintaining routing including the use of RIP version 2, OSPF, and BGP
• Implementing and supporting WAN technology including Frame-Relay, Point-to-Point circuits, and bonded circuits
• Implementing and supporting LAN technology including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), and link aggregation
• Designing, implementing and supporting firewall solutions including the use of policies and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) design
• Supporting advanced switching and routing including the use of (VSS) Virtual Switching Systems
• Providing in-depth analysis on network data captures
• Designing, supporting and configuring SSLVPN, client and clientless VPN solution
• Performing network integration with business partners using appropriate secure network solutions
• Implementing network security solutions including but not limited to Intrusion Prevention and Detection, and Network Access Controls (NAC)
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise load balancing solutions
• Troubleshooting problems within the network environment and working with ITS technical staff and vendor technical staff to diagnose and correct problems
• Maintaining records of system changes and upgrades. Also maintaining records of problems and resolutions for future analysis
• Reviewing existing system performance and recommending changes to improve performance
• Reviewing and recommending network operating system patches and upgrades
• Providing assistance in the development of policies and procedures
• Working effectively within a team environment.
• Mentoring State staff and providing off-shift support as required

 

Candidates should have at least 60 months experience, and at least one of the following should apply:

 

• Direct working experience with design, implementation and support of a multi-vendor network environment that supports over 500 remote locations, and houses Cisco, Nortel and Juniper devices.
• Experience in conducting risk assessment of network environment changes, and should be capable of making sound recommendations to improve existing processes and mitigate issues, supported by detailed documentation to reflect process, traffic flows and network architecture.
• Direct working experience with design, implementation and support of enterprise wireless technologies, including 802.11 A, B, G and N.
• Direct working experience with design, implementation and support of emerging technologies, such as Unified Communications, VoIP, Video, and VDI.
• Direct working experience with design, implementation and support of WAN/LAN technologies, including Multicast, RIP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, Spanning Tree, LLDP and Link Aggregation protocols.
• Experience with configuring and supporting Juniper Firewalls.
• Experience in design, implementation and support of QoS and traffic shaping technologies
• Experience with design, implementation and support of remote access solutions
• Direct working experience troubleshooting application issues using protocol analysis tools. (i.e. Infinistream, Sniffer)
