Description:

This is a hands–on technical assignment working with the New York State Police and other law-enforcement agencies in New York State and the Public Safety Cluster supporting NY SAFE Act project efforts. Responsibilities include but are not limited to architecting, designing and constructing new web services and business services, fixing defects, build enhancements and server configuration.

 

The individual selected for this position will carry out all IT architect, design, development and support efforts directed by the Information Services personnel assigned to Portal Law Enforcement Application group within the Public Safety Cluster. The position will be part of a technical team at NYSP Division Headquarters. The incumbent will provide service under all of the unit's policies, guidelines and operational procedures.

 

Day to day tasks include but are not limited to the following:

1. Development of Web Services and Web Service Security

2. Project build management with Maven

3. Application Setup / Server deployments to IBM Websphere Application Server, MQ(Messaging Queue), IBM Broker and DataPower Appliance

4. Regular interaction with SVN (Version Control system)

5. Database Programming in Oracle and MS SQL (Microsoft Structure Query Language)

6. Developing and debugging message flows in ESQL (Embedded Structured Query Language) and JAVA

7. Defining various MQ objects such as Queues, Listeners, and Channels

8. Developing in JAVA and J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) including JMS (Java Message Service), EJB (Enterprise JavaBeans), JAXWS (Java API (Application Programming Interface) for XML Web Services), DOM (Document Object Model) Parser, and Hibernate.

 

Candidates should have at least 60 months experience, and at least one of the following should apply:

 

  • Experience implementing highly available and scalable multi-tier applications using Object Oriented or Service Oriented Architecture
  • Web development experience using Java related technologies and web services
  • Experience with NIEM(National Information Exchange Model), XML, XSL and XML Schemas
  • Experience with the Hibernate framework
  • Experience using Eclipse or Rational Application Developer (RAD)
  • Experience creating UML(Unified Modeling Language), Class, and Sequence diagrams
