Network Security Test Engineer @ Austin, TX for 12+Months contract

 

The Network Security Test Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for assessing the quality of cutting-edge, enterprise-level network security solutions.  These solutions include but are not limited to: intrusion prevention, firewall, DDoS and traffic anomaly protection, VPN, encryption, port and host scans, web filtering.

 

Candidates should thrive on working in a close, small team environment

This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, plus analytical, problem solving, verbal and written communications skills. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Review marketing and high-level design documents and functional specifications for new and existing features
• Assist in planning test strategies based on these specifications
• Develop and maintain test plans based upon these strategies
• Explore technologies and tools needed to execute these test plans
• Execute the test plans, performing troubleshooting as need be
• Recording results and reporting defects accordingly
• Candidate must be able to work in a self-directed role supporting multiple teams.
• Develop automation for executing regression test cases and test plans

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 5 years testing enterprise level application and environments
• Experience with and passion for automation and automation tools
• Working in an agile team environment
• Basic troubleshooting of issues to reduce defect noise
• Experience testing Java applications that include database reporting
• Knowledge of MS Windows Servers, Linux based servers, and Mac OS clients
• Solid understanding of:
• Network and application protocols (IPv4/6, TCP, UDP) down to the packet level
• Security technologies (authentication, encryption, compression, VPN)
• Networking (switches, routers) and security (firewalls, IPS) equipment and technologies (VPN, VLAN)
• Experience analyzing network traffic data to identify problem areas.
• Basic Linux CLI navigation and usage
• Experience in quality assurance or other aspects of testing

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of jscript, vbscript, or any scripting language
• Knowledge of MySQL and/or Vertica
• Knowledge of Quick Test Pro or similar automation tool
• Some programming experience
